First post at DUIAttorneys

It is with great pleasure (and a little trepidation in taking on another project) that I announce the start of duiattorneys.net, which is a complimentary property to duiattorney, com.

I have selected Justia.com to build and host the website for me based on a number of factors, and am very excited to begin this journey with the good folks there in my corner.

There are unsung heroes out there in the trenches of DUI defense who deserve a measure of public recognition that they either don't have time to, or in most cases, are too modest to provide for themselves. In a very real way, DUI defense lawyers are on the front line in the battle that the government and certain political and hate groups are waging on the Constitution of our country.

Since DUI cases are not generally considered as serious as many other crimes, and generally do not carry significant jail time for a first or second offense (as opposed to rape, murder and treason), the fight may seem less worthwhile. Nothing could be further from the truth. This is because if the fourth, fifth and sixth amendments are eroded in DWI cases, then, in reality, they are eroded in ALL criminal cases.

This blog is to praise and humanize those defense attorneys who are doing the painstaking and thankless work of protecting us all from a police-state.

Some may not like this part very much, but this blog is also to call out those who hold themselves out as dedicated DUI defense attorneys, but who, in reality are nothing more than dump-trucks and high paid legal escorts, and who always plead their clients guilty. This type of lawyer hurts us all. They hurt the Constitution by letting it get trampled. They hurt the reputation of all lawyers by not doing their jobs and taking the easy way out. And most of all, they hurt the little guys, their clients.

I anticipate that this project will be unique because not many practicing lawyers feel inclined to publicly praise or criticize their peers. But what will be said here needs to be said to prevent further deterioration of our great justice system.
